About The Msasa Tree

The Msasa Tree was an idea that took root whilst living in Zimbabwe & visiting other African countries over a 5 year period. Seeing what amazing & unique products are created by the people of these countries with almost no tools & using whatever materials come to hand - be they natural or what most other societies would consider 'waste' - was the inspiration for the business.

Due to the economic circumstances of their countries, where jobs are few and poverty the norm, these people live precarious existences. They are unable to reap the benefits of their talents to help alleviate their poverty as visitors are few & far between. The Msasa Tree works on the basis of sourcing products DIRECT FROM THE CRAFTSMEN & CRAFTSWOMEN, and paying a fair price for a fair product. By buying from us YOU are ensuring a family is directly benefiting .

The Msasa Tree offers a large range of hand painted and hand embroidered linens, hand crafted paper goods plus hand crafted decorative items of beauty & ingenuity for both house & garden that won't be seen anywhere else. We also stock a most attractive range of clothing and accessories that are both colourful and
unique.

The beauty of the majority of products that we offer is that each item can be individually tailored to suit your own tastes, whilst still remaining affordable. All painted linen can be done in the design & colour combination of your choosing while the embroidered linen can be done in any of the designs offered ( of which there are numerous) & in any thread colour you choose . All beaded work can be requested in a particular colour.

The Msasa Tree has 3 main aims :
